Description

Peter Farrelly directs this drama following Italian-American bouncer Tony Lip (Viggo Mortensen) and African-American pianist Dr. Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali) during a musical tour of the Southern United States in the 1960s.

Determined to break barriers and perform his music to the masses, Dr. Shirley sets out on his tour with the help of his newly hired driver, Tony, and the aid of the Green Book, a guide listing racially accepting establishments for African-Americans to perform, eat and sleep in.

Despite being forewarned that his presence in these states may bring trouble, Dr. Shirley and Tony form an unlikely bond as Tony is awakened to the prejudices the black community are subjected to while Dr. Shirley educates Tony in what it means to be sophisticated.
