Brought up in Liverpool, Alicia Drake was educated at Newnham College, Cambridge University where she read History and History of Art. She went to Paris for six months and stayed for eighteen years. There she worked as a writer and fashion journalist and had five children. She is the author of The Beautiful Fall, a book of narrative nonfiction about Paris fashion and creativity in the 1970s. She returned to the UK five years ago and now lives in the countryside with her husband and children. I Love You Too Much is her first novel.
Karen Cleveland spent eight years as a CIA analyst, focusing on counterterrorism and working briefly on rotation to the FBI. She has master's degrees from Trinity College Dublin and Harvard University. She lives in northern Virginia with her husband and two young sons.
Laura Carlin left school at 16 to work in retail banking and it was only after leaving her job to write full-time that she discovered her passion for storytelling and exploring pockets of history through fiction. She lives in a book-filled house in beautiful rural Derbyshire with her family (and a very naughty cat). When she's not writing she enjoys walking in the surrounding Peak District. The Wicked Cometh is her first novel.
Leïla Slimani is the first Moroccan woman to win France's most prestigious literary prize, the Prix Goncourt. Her first novel, The Ogre's Garden – forthcoming from Faber & Faber in 2019 – won the Prix La Mamounia. Slimani is a journalist and frequent commentator on women's and human rights. Leila Slimani has been appointed by Emmanuel Macron to promote French language and culture in the role of Francophone affairs minister. She turned down the offer of becoming France's Minister of Culture. She lives in Paris with her husband and two children.
