Now We are Sixty Hardback
Illustrated by David Eccles
When Christopher Matthew was six, the poems of Milne always reassured him that other children were as naughty as he was, so on reaching sixty he decided that he should adapt Now We Are Six for an older audience. Now We Are Sixty is often hilarious, sometimes rueful and always thought-provoking.
Some verses are about realising we are not as young as we thought, while some are about the more disconcerting problems of modern life; mobile telephones on trains, anti-social behaviour, traffic jams and the internet.

Review by LynleyS
I'm neither English nor anywhere near sixty so I probably failed to get some of the jokes - there were no belly laughs for me, nor sniggers, but I appreciate the skill it takes to emulate a well known writer of yore.I really like the cover, with its worn-out design, peeling off in places to reveal a faux-original hardback design. On the shelf, this book looks just like a genuine oldie. The 'decorations' within are also reminiscent of the era. Yes, there are a few poems in here which I thought were really clever but overall, I don't think the poet said much about late middle age that was terribly original.
