Roberta Joan "Joni" Mitchell CC (nee Anderson), born on November 7th, 1943, Fort Macleod, Alberta, Canada, is a singer-songwriter and painter.

Drawing from folk, pop, rock, and jazz, Joni's songs often reflect social and environmental ideals as well as her feelings about romance, confusion, disillusionment, and joy.

Mitchell has received many accolades, including 9 Grammy Awards, having also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during 1997.

Rolling Stone magazine described her as "one of the greatest songwriters ever", while AllMusic stated, "When the dust settles, Joni Mitchell may stand as the most important and influential female recording artist of the late 20th century".
