1984 is a horrifying dystopia, quite a bleak outlook for the future. Orwell envisioned a society in which a minute section of society controls everything and those outside, question nothing. With the ending of every chapter a new question arose in my mind; this book will make you question. It also makes me wonder, what direction is the society that we’re currently living in heading? Hopefully we will not have to see the day in which our society has fallen to such unthinkable atrocities. This book really tells you to keep an open mind, question things, find the truth about everything, to truly honor your own individuality. Definitely not a book for those who prefer happy-endings and expecting everything to be all rainbows and sunshine. I recommend for those who want to provoke their minds and go off on a thinking tangent, rather than those who like to get lost in a dreamy sort of novel.

The year is 1984. Big Brother is watching. Can one man break free from the overbearing government and become his own person?
