#3 I knew David Moyes’ family background. His father was a coach at Drumchapel, where I played as a lad. I was impressed by him right away, and the Glazers liked him. I knew he would be a straight-talker, which was a virtue.

#4 I announced the news to the players and staff at Carrington. I urged the crowd to stand by the next manager, David Moyes. I did not want to praise any individual, but rather the club as a whole.
