Philip Morin Freneau (January 2, 1752-December 18, 1832) was a notable American poet, nationalist, polemicist, sea captain, and newspaper editor, sometimes called the "Poet of the American Revolution." This half-hour historical drama was adapted into play form by Joe Bevilacqua, in association with W. John Bauer, English Professor, Kean University. It was first toured on stage with grants from the Monmouth County Historical Society and the New Jersey Historical Commission.

The play details Freneau's fascinating life alongside the leaders of the Revolution, from George Washington to Ben Franklin, and features a fine cast, including Joe Bevilacqua as Philip Freneau, with William Melillo, Alison Nead, Rick Ramos, Leslie Spital, and Cathi Tully.
