Greenmantle' is John Buchan's second novel featuring the character of Richard Hannay and was first published in 1916 by Hodder & Stoughton, London.

Greenmantle is one of two Hannay novels set during the First World War, 'Mr Standfast' (1919) being the other.

Hannay's most famous adventure, 'The Thirty-Nine Steps' (1915), is set just after the war.
