This classic is mainly popular because the rainbow fish's scales sparkle. The rainbow fish is arrogant about his shining scales, and won't share even one. When he realizes that everyone hates him, he asks for advice, and is told that if he gives his scales away he'll be happy. He does, and makes many friends.

This very popular children's series has made someone (hopefully Marcus Pfister) a whole lot of money. In rating this first book I'd say the beautiful illustrations are worth a 10, but the story is only worth a 4; so overall I give it a 7.

Love the book!!! The fish learned to share his scales and earned friends by doing so. Very good book to learn how to not be selfish and share things with friends.
