This is the story of an Archangel gone bad and a vampire hunter who is hunting him. Angels and archangels regard humans as disposable, people are pretty much cattle to be fed upon, nothing more. The Angels control the Vampires and Raphael is the most powerful of the Archangels. Elena Deveraux is a rogue vampire hunter and is one of the best but her job is dangerous, this time she mightn't survive. It wasn't bad but there were times I wondered about the reasoning behind some of the characters motivations, they didn't seem to flow but imposed by the author. There were also moments when I really didn't care for Raphael and didn't think that the relationship between the two of them showed any true growth or movement. Still it had it's moments and I found it quite readable.
