Review by JudithProctor
This is the book that saved my sanity. The rest of the family could play bridge and I was floundering, trying to make sense of the bidding system. This book is a great introduction to the game - it assumes total ignorance of Bridge and bidding conventions. It gave me a good straightforward start that enabled me to bid reasonably correctly in the vast majority of games and for the rest of my family to understand my bidding and for me to understand theirs. It also has a good section on basic tactics and communication plays.I'm now moving onto Mendelson's next book 'The Right Way to Play Bridge' which is aimed at more experienced players.
