Description
'Titanic' director James Cameron tested the waters for aquatic adventure with this earlier submarine-set sci-fi thriller.
An unidentified floating object is picked up on the sonar of a US nuclear submarine, and the ensuing panic leads to the sub being marooned on the edge of an abyss.
Oil rigger Bud Brigman (Ed Harris) leads his team on a rescue mission, aided by engineer Lindsey Brigman (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio), Bud's estranged wife.
Whilst navy representatives attempt to salvage the 150 nuclear warheads on board, the force that had caused the initial accident begins to make its presence felt.
