Following an accident in the year 2020, marine archaeologist Jay Fennel (Hartnett) is magically transported back in time and across the globe to 1778 India.

In his comatose state, Jay imagines himself as 18th century British officer Captain James Stewart living in the city of Pune.

Caught up in the war between the British East India Company and the Maratha Empire, James falls in love with Maratha warrior Tulaja Naik (Bipasha Basu).
