Description

Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility.

While I do not fear the ostracism of scientific opinion, yet I wish honestly to recognize the full force of the critical arguments.

Let us then briefly examine some of the reasons why the critics would have us believe that Deuteronomy was not written until centuries after Moses.

These are mainly threefold (1) Certain ex pressions which Moses could not have used; (2) certain laws, whose origin must be assigned to a much later period than that of the great lawgiver; (3) the absence of allusions to this book by the prophets of the eighth century.

Of course there are several other grounds which are of subordinate importance, and for which there is no room in a brief and popular article.
