Sheila Rowe reveals the joys and sorrows she experienced as a child growing up at the time of the Great Depression during the 1930s.

She lived with her parents and brother in the seaside town of Hastings.

Leaving home again as a young woman, letters continue to play a major role as Sheila chronicles her experiences while training as a nurse from 1947 for four years at King's College Hospital.

She was particularly close to her brother at this transformational time in their early lives.
