Willy the Dreamer Paperback
Illustrated by Anthony Browne
Part of the Willy the Chimp series
Willy loves to dream. He dreams that he's a film star, a sumo wrestler, a ballet dancer, a painter, an explorer, a famous writer, a scuba diver...Sometimes he dreams that he can't run but he can fly.
He dreams he's a giant or he's tiny, a beggar or a king, in a strange landscape or all at sea.
He dreams of fierce monsters and super heroes, of the past and, sometimes, the future.
Willy's dreamland is a gallery of amazing and magical pictures, each one magnificently executed and packed with bananas and slyly surreal details that cannot fail to intrigue and delight.
The pictures pay homage to famous paintings by the likes of Dali, Magritte and Henri Rousseau, as well as film and book characters and much more.

This book is about Willy's dreams. This book is great for grades k-3. Children could draw picture of dreams they have had. Illustrations probably computer generated. Great for a fantasy lesson and imagination.

This story is all about dreams. It shows you that it doesn't matter who you are because you can be anything or anyone in your dreams. This book shows children that they can believe in their dreams.

(easy, picture) Willy is a dreamer, a monkey dreamer, yet his dreams are possibly very similar to yours and mine. Willy's dreams take him through a variety of mindscapes influenced by a hodge podge of great painters. Which painters they are is evident by the style of the illustration. I loved this book! I have so come to enjoy children's books illustrators in my recent children's literature studies cataloged in this library, and this book is one of the reasons why. Evident in the illustrations is so much fun imaginative detail! I found myself studying the page before I turned on to the next one. A fun activity with little ones would be for them to point out what they see that interests them on each page before you turn to the next one.
