Collection of six classic Woody Allen films. In 'Bananas' (1971), puny New Yorker and gadget tester Fielding Mellish (Allen) is in love with Nancy (Louise Lasser), a beautiful political activist who is obsessed by the battles being waged in San Marcos between the dictator General Vargas (Carlos Montalban) and his revolutionary opponents.
In an audacious attempt to impress his beloved, Fielding makes for San Marcos and in a bizarre and bewildering series of events, ends up becoming the president of the country. 'Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex* (*But Were Afraid to Ask)' (1972) comprises seven sketches inspired by questions from Dr David Reuben's best-selling book.
Highlights include a sketch about a doctor (Gene Wilder) who falls in love with a sheep.
In 'Sleeper' (1973), a health food store owner's body is frozen after an operation goes badly wrong.
When he wakes up 200 years later, he discovers a world run by a totalitarian government and experiences severe culture shock as he comes to terms with his new environment. 'Love and Death' (1975) follows the adventures of Boris (Allen), a cowardly scholar who is press-ganged into the Russian army during the Napoleonic Wars.
After inadvertently becoming a hero, Boris returns home to marry his true love before embarking on a mission to assassinate Napoleon. 'Annie Hall' (1977) follows the story of neurotic stand-up comic Alvy (Allen) and insecure up-and-coming singer Annie (Diane Keaton) as they attempt to build a lasting relationship.
They face a number of problems, however, including opposing feelings towards California and their own mutual paranoia.
Finally, in 'Interiors' (1978), three sisters try to come to terms with their parent's divorce and their mother's subsequent suicide attempt after their father Arthur (E.G.
Marshall) runs off with a high-spirited new lover.
