Description

Epic love story. In 1885, entrepreneur Douglas McCracken (Richard Harris) travels to Russia with his young assistant Jane Callahan (Julia Ormond) with the intention of selling a new, steam-driven timber harvester.

Once there, Jane embarks on an affair with young Russian officer Andrei Tolstoy (Oleg Menshikov), but their romance is curtailed when Andrei finds himself exiled to Siberia.
