Gender Equity at work in Albania, Paperback / softback Book

Gender Equity at work in Albania Paperback / softback

Paperback / softback

Description

Gender equality in Albania continues to pose a major challenge to the legislation and its implementation.

Albanian tradition of gender discrimination has always struggled constantly trying to save the image of women in society to uphold human dignity.

Human rights are important and without them it would be impossible to live as human beings.

Albania has faced constant challenges with regard to respect of gender equality, this also because of the fact that the legislation on gender equality in Albania has gone through a long transitional period.

Gender equality is a fundamental right and an important common value of the EU countries.

Albania has ratified most of the instruments on human rights, which are part of our internal judicial system and are directly applicable.

This study focuses on the treatment of gender equality in employment in Albania and the role of the three powers (the legislative, the executive and the judiciary), the influence of legal instruments in Albania in respect to gender equality, the role and influence of the legislative power on issues of discrimination and gender equality and the role and powers of the Commissioner of Protection from discrimination.
