Description

The book "Term of Free and Informed Consent - the genre and its structuring", authored by Professor Carmen Regina Teixeira de Quadros, refers to a study on textual genres aimed at forwarding research projects subject to evaluation by the Ethics Committees, according to Resolution 196/96, which incorporates the four basic references of Bioethics: autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence and justice, and aims to ensure the rights and duties that concern the scientific community, the research subjects and the State.

In this study, characterization of the TCLE genre was based on the investigation of 30 texts from three different institutions, two from the university area and one from the hospital area, submitted and approved by Ethics Committees of these institutions.

For the analysis, the author based herself on Bronckart's conception (2003), who conceives the organization of the text as a puff pastry consisting of three superimposed layers.

The study is relevant due to the high number of texts that return to researchers and professionals and students who write such terms, among other problems in their elaboration.
