Grandma Betty, the sassy creator of Bee's Flowers, will take you on her journey as well, starting as a high school senior in the late 1960s. You will get to see her fighting for what she wants during a time of turmoil in the world. Betty wants nothing more than to start her flower business, even though her mother would prefer that Betty become a secretary. Being 18 in 1969 has its own set of challenges as she and her peers deal with the Vietnam War. As Rachel and Betty each embark on their own adventure, you'll get a glimpse into each woman's private thoughts as they document the state of their lives in letters, emails, and diary entries. Each woman's journey ends up being necessary to help them discover who they want and are meant to be. Bee-Coming isn't always easy.

I, of course, always sensed that they had a special relationship. You could tell every time we visited my great-great-grandpa that Grandma Betty was special to him. I had never grasped the importance of his involvement in the success of Bee's Flowers, and I was looking forward to hearing more of the story.
