Software Development Accelerated Essentials : What You Didn't Know You Needed To Know Paperback / softback

Paperback / softback

Description

This is not a book about the latest technology, nor is it a book about how to code verbatim.
I discuss topics with the reader on a one to one basis, as if you and I were “pair programming.”  I provide clear, concise, real life scenarios.  The case studies are based on real life scenarios written in my own code.

A developer will benefit from this book because their application will be easier to maintain.
For an IT manager, it works to solidify good coding habits and ensure that your team is all on the same level playing field.  Everyone knowing what’s required from them to provide robust, easily maintainable, reusable application code.

At the end of the day, everything comes down to the Production release. Ensuring quality releases with little to no rollbacks, is essential.  If you don’t already know what’s a Production release, then this book will give you a good understanding of what it is, and how to manage it.
The examples are in C# but the principles are the same for JAVA and any programming language.
It covers both the developmental process as well as the operational procedures necessary to both build the company as well as run the company.
We start by covering established well-known “Best Practices” for writing, developing, and maintaining reusable software.

Let me just make this perfectly clear, this is not just another book about the SOLID paradigm, there are already an extensive array of books out there.  This book is from my thirty years of practical experience in the IT sector for which I’ve worked at many major financial institutions.
The goal of this book is not to teach you how to write code but to get you to analyze the problem and come up with the best solution.  They say experience is the best teacher, so I give you examples of real-life experiences and explain the thought process of how I dealt with each situation.
If you’re already in the field or just getting started then this book will give you an accelerated view on practically, again I emphasize practically, everything you need to know.  To the skeptics, I may have left some items out, although I doubt that, but if I did, please drop me a line.
There are many ways to code for a given scenario.  The focus is on “Best Practices,” with when and how to use Design Patterns and how to do it using Test Driven Development. Your applications must not only be maintainable but they must also be testable with an adequate amount of automated test coverage.
