An einem exponierten Platz des Budapester Friedhofs an der Kerepesi-ut steht auf einer prachtigen Granitsaule die 1890 vom Bildhauer Antal Szechi geschaffene Buste eines bartigen, gut funfzigjahrigen Mannes:Alsóviszokai Gerlóczy Karoly. 1835-1900 steht im Sockel eingemeißelt. Es ist das Grabmal des ersten Vicebürgermeisters von Budapest.

Die uralte und wunderschöne Stadt an der Donau hat ihm kulturell viel zu verdanken. Auf seinem Taufschein stand noch ein anderer Name:Karoly, Sohn des Emericus Matekovich de Gerlótz und der Eleonora Becker. Aus Matekovich wurde Gerlóczy.
