Description
Published in 1958 as a memoriam for E. Merton Coulter, Georgians in Profile is a collection of fourteen biographical essays that detail the lives of important Georgians.
Written by Coulter’s former students, the subjects of the essays range from colonial builders to reformers of the twentieth century.
Some of the historical figures in the volume include John Percival, the First Earl of Egmont, who helped establish the Georgia colony; Benjamin Hawkins, a representative for Congress in the negotiations with the Creek Indians; Wilson Lumpkin, a prominent antebellum politician; and Rebecca Latimer Felton, the first woman to hold a U.S.
Senate seat. An appendix offers a complete list of works published by Coulter up to 1958.
