I have not been able to ascertain whether our ancestor, John Jacob, or any other of them, was born in Deux Ponts.

When, dur ing my visit there in the year 1869, the records were examined at my request, I felt very much disappointed in being told that nothing could be found to show that such a family had ever resided in that country and, if ever existed there, it must have been recorded in that office, but that record is now lost.
