Part of the Influential series

Paperback / softback

Description

Ludwig van Beethoven was a German composer and pianist who is widely considered one of the greatest composers of all time. In his early years, he used the works of Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as inspiration for his own compositions. He had immense influence in transitioning from the Classical period to the Romantic era in classical music. His career can be divided into three periods: early (1770-1802), middle (1802-1812) and late (1812- 1827). Over this course of his life, he wrote some of the most influential symphonies, chamber pieces, sonatas and operas known to man - including Fidelio, Missa Solemnis and Symphony No. 9. Despite gradually becoming deaf during this period, his genius persisted undeterred until he passed away at age 56 due to illness. Beethoven's compositions have become an important part of modern day classical music repertoire that continues to inspire generations everywhere even today!
