Dame Vera Margaret Welch CH DBE OStJ, known professionally as Vera Lynn, born on 20th March 1917, East Ham, Essex, England, UK is a singer of traditional pop, songwriter and actress, whose musical recordings and performances were extremely popular during the Second World War.

She's widely known as "the Forces' Sweetheart" for giving outdoor concerts to the troops in Egypt, India, and Burma during the war as part of Entertainments National Service Association (ENSA).

The songs most associated with Lynn are "We'll Meet Again", "The White Cliffs of Dover", "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square" and "There'll Always Be an England".
