Biodiversity of Tengchong, Gaoligongshan [English / Chinese] Paperback / softback

Edited by Chan Pui Look Bosco, Bi Zheng

Paperback / softback

Description

Gaoligongshan, in the southwest corner of China, is a massive mountain range characterised by low latitude and high altitude.

The southwest monsoon from the Indian Ocean brings plentiful rainfall, providing perfect conditions for the proliferation of plant growth, resulting in the rich biodiversity with high endemism we witness today.

Since 2014, Kadoorie Conservation China of Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden together with Gaoligongshan National Nature Reserve (Tengchong Bureau) have systematically surveyed various wildlife groups, yielding a number of exciting discoveries and rare images, including the first record of the elusive Marbled Cat in over 30 years for Yunnan and discovery of two new amphibian species - Leptolalax tengchongensis and Leptobrachium tengchongense.

This is the first bilingual field guide about Gaoligongshan biodiversity, and is the result of a recent two-year biodiversity survey.

It features over 300 plant and animal species with 500 photographs which are taken exclusively at Tengchong.

This is a popular science publication about western Yunnan species with basic identification features of Tengchong wildlife.
