The Elephant Who Lost an Eye, Hardback Book

The Elephant Who Lost an Eye Hardback

Hardback

Description

If you were an elephant who had just lost an eye, chances are you would  run off into the jungle in panic, right? Of course, if that happened, you would probably be hoping that a quick witted and brave little girl, a preying mantis, a spider, a bird and even a chimpanzee would come to the rescue, right? And  you would most definitely want to consult with an elusive panther to find out if he could help in any way. But, what if the only answer you could get was a riddle?  Would you be able to solve the mystery for a little elephant who lost an eye?

"The Elephant who lost an Eye" is an illustrated adaption of a traditional West African story about the importance of patience.  At the core of this unique tale is a simple message about taking chances and taking time to work things out.

The book was inspired by a combination of encounters with story tellers from Africa in Madrid (where i lived for six years) as well as by my own adventiures in the heart of Western Africa. The  people, landscapes, and colors  of the magical amd mysterious chiefdoms of Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia were a bountiful resource for the illustrations in this book.

If you looking for a new story (or even a riddle to solve!) accompanied by captivating illustrations, then I offer this a short tale as one to begin that journey;  a visual treat to come back to again and again, a book to enjoy and to share,  a book for children of all ages, a book for you!
