I have consulted all the books there are, Of domes tic and foreign origin, relating to the subject of sign painting, and have also carefully gleaned the pages of the various trade publications for, the past several years for matter relating to the subject, and what I have gathered in this way has been carefully edited or revised as the case required, and thus I have sought to give the book a permanent and practical value that could not be secured by hasty or less care ful work.
I have spent the greater part of the pres ent year in the preparation of the work. And now I Offer it to the trade, with the hope and expectation that it will meet a real need and adequately supply that need.
There is no other book at least that comes as near to this mark.
