Nigeria at present is struggling with the issue of threats to her internal security as a result of the pervasive state of insecurity ranging from arms trafficking, insurgency, banditry, militancy, Fulani herdsmen attack, succession threats, small arms proliferation across the countries porous borders among others.

The paper examines globalization, arms trafficking and insecurity in Nigeria.

The study used the descriptive method survey to gather relevant data.

The study adopts the realist approach (RA), failed state theory (FST) and differential association theory (DAT) as its theoretical framework, the study reveals the factors responsible for arms trafficking and insecurity to include: Porous borders, unemployment, poverty, huge financial benefits due to arms traffickers and ethnic religious clashes.

The study recommends among other things the need for government to implement strategy to forestall insecurity in the country as the promotion of the welfare and wellbeing of the people is the reason for governance, strengthen national arms control legislation and crack down on the of UN arms embargoes.
