Description
Oriental pied hornbills are very widespread in southern and southeastern Asia.
They prefer to live in tropical and subtropical forests with really large old trees, where they nest and the hen lays two or three eggs.
She will remain there until the young birds are almost fledglings.
During this time the male takes care of the family alone.
It takes all kinds of figs and other fruits, insects, small reptiles and frogs from the forest.
Once juveniles are fully fledged, they continue to be fed by both parents.
They remain in their family for two or three years, mostly until sexual maturity.
