An excerpt
My Uncle With Cancer
I found him, skeletal
And ring-eyed,
Stepping between fall leaves
On the asphalt shingles.
"Uncle Billy. What'er ya
Doin' up there?"
He looked down at me on the grass
And yelled, somewhat weakly,
"I changed all the washers today,
And I had a couple of leaks to tar up."
He waved a hammer-
A sceptre against dark clouds.
"Gotta get the place ship shape
For your Auntie Elsie before I
Kick the bucket."
