Cirencester a Century Ago, Paperback / softback Book

Cirencester a Century Ago Paperback / softback

Paperback / softback

Description

Cirencester is an ancient town in the heart of the Cotswolds.

In Roman times it was reputed to be the largest town in Britain after London, but it fell into decline when the Romans withdrew.

Several centuries later wool became a major industry, bringing with it great prosperity and it is the rich wool merchants who were responsible for many of the fine buildings in and around the town.

After another period of neglect there was a renaissance in Cirencester's fortunes at the beginning of the twentieth century.

This is a collection of over 160 stunning images of the town, combined with informative captions from co-authors David and Linda Viner.

It is sure to be of great interest to all those who know and love Cirencester
