The summary descriptions provided here are derived directly from the full accounts prepared by John Rodwell in "British Plant Communities, Volume 3: Grasslands and Montane Communities" 1992, but are in no way a sustitute for them.

Rather they are intended as an aide memoir to assist surveyors or anyone else wishing to familiarise themselves with the overall scheme of classification for mesotrophic grasslands.

Anyone who uses the descriptions should always check their results against the frequency tables and full descriptions for each community in volume 3 of British Plant Communitities.
