Description

This is the second of three volumes on the Bornu Mission (1822-25) which form part of a series of volumes on the exploration of the Niger.

They consist of the edited text of the 'Narrative of Travels and Discoveries in Northern and Central Africa in the Years 1822,1823 and 1824' by Major D.

Denham, Captain H. Clapperton and Dr W. Oudney. The editor's introduction and the first two chapters of the Narrative appear in the first volume.

This volume covers the Mission's exploration of Bornu and adjoining countries, with full notes and reconstructed itineraries.

The third volume is devoted to Clapperton's account of his exploration of Hausa and his stay in Sokoto.

The main pagination of this and volumes 128 and 130 is continuous. This is a new print-on-demand hardback edition of the volume first published in 1966.
