Four women from different walks of life are serving life sentences in the same female penitentiary in America.

They form a core known as the "meal mates club" and at the same time form a strong bond.

It is a bond those on the outside can never comprehend. Lindsay was undoubtedly the leader and looked after the business. Angela was the adventurous one always ready to take a chance, stir up trouble and make things happen. Cherie was the gloomy one, always paying attention but unreadable to others. However, Anita was the sweet and gentle one always willing to lend an ear and quick to offer compassion. They often get into fights for stupid reasons. Sometimes they snatch things from fellow inmates. The inmates are too scared to fight back. They rule the prison and some wealthy inmates give them money in exchange for protection. They are unique because they never get into mind games; they have no emotions left for that.

Their concern is to enjoy the privileges given to them by the prison authorities at night and in the day during domestic duties. The four female convicts plot an escape as they are not ready to die in Prison.

In their bid to escape, they decide to drug the drinks of the prison officials during the annual New Year party. The drug is very powerful and will put the officers to into a deep sleep for six hours. Even when they wake, they will be weak and disorientated for around two hours. The gang will change into the prison warders uniform and open the prison gates where Lindsay's brother will be waiting to drive them away to Philadelphia. The gang successfully escape and are taken to a farmhouse on the outskirts of Philadelphia. Meanwhile, the Police have set up roadblocks all over the city looking for the fugitives.
