Fellini: Four Films Blu-ray

Directed by Federico Fellini

Blu-ray

Description

Collection of four features from iconic Italian director Federico Fellini.

In '8 1/2' (1963) Marcello Mastroianni stars as Guido Anselmi, a successful film director who is embarking on his most ambitious project to date.

However, during filming Guido hits a creative block and becomes worn out by the continuous pestering from those around him as he muses on nostalgic moments from his past that he wishes to use for his latest film.

In 'I Vitelloni' (1953) Fausto (Franco Fabrizi), Moraldo (Franco Interlenghi), Alberto (Alberto Sordi), Leopaldo (Leopoldo Trieste) and Riccardo (Riccardo Fellini) are a group of childhood friends who grow up in the town of Rimini and spend their days in bars and cafes, dreaming of adventure, discussing women and sponging off their parents.

In 'La Dolce Vita' (1960) Mastroianni stars as a gossip columnist named Marcello who pursues a number of different women, including wealthy heiress Maddalena (Anouk Aimée) and newly arrived movie starlet Sylvia (Anita Ekberg), who he shows some of Rome's most picturesque tourist attractions to.

Throughout the various parties and social gatherings that Marcello attends he appears to be both attracted and equally repelled by the ostentatious behaviour of the guests and the opulence present in the social circles that he interacts with.

In 'Juliet of the Spirits' (1965) jaded housewife Juliet (Giulietta Masina) discovers that she has the ability to call upon spirits when she begins to suspect that her husband (Mario Pisu) is cheating on her.

Through consultation with mediums and clairvoyants, Juliet gradually discovers a sense of self which enables her to leave her unfaithful spouse.
