Hildie, Marta's oldest daughter, has a heart to serve others, and Marta's hardnosed parenting leaves Hildie hungry for the love of her mother. Hildie's calling as a nurse gives her independence, if not the respect of her mother. Each woman is forced to confront her faulty, but well-meaning desire to help her daughter find her God-given place in the world. This saga is about breaking hurtful generational cycles and moving toward reconciling and restoring life's most important relationships.
