The Twins wrote to each other almost daily, and when Francis went to the Boer War they settled to keep each other's letters.

A large collection was found after their death, and when examined it seemed to their family worthy of some form of publication.

Mr. John Buchan, who was one of the Twins' greatest friends, most kindly undertook to prepare a memoir.

It is intended that any profits derived from the sale of the book should go to benefit the finances of the Invalid Children's Aid Association, a branch of which was founded in Islington by Rivy in 1912, and in which both brothers were greatly interested.
