This volume contains eight chapters that detail advances in environmental research.

Chapter One discusses the rational use of lignite resources.

Chapter Two seeks to identify false-starts to the wet season in the historical rainfall data for a particular station on (at a particular location on) the mainland, St.

Vincent. Chapter Three assesses the water quality of a subtropical estuary in Brazil after a major chemical fire.

Chapter Four aims to develop a comprehensive approach for the cultivation of the medicinal plant S. cumini through agroforestry in West Java. Chapter Five focuses on wastewater treatment by electrooxidation, dimensionally stable anodes (DSA) preparation and the assessment of electrochemical degradation of organic pollutants from wastewaters on DSA.

Chapter Six discusses Martian methane. Chapter Seven details the hydro-climatic system of the Volga River Basin.

Lastly, Chapter Eight examines the oil recovery of the DME-CO2 mixed solvent in terms of sweep efficiency and displacement efficiency by comparing CO2-water-alternating-gas (WAG) and DME-CO2 WAG.
