There is no other illustrator like Kaye Nielsen.

Those are great stories with great morals. My only complaint is that so many of the stories sounded like they were variations of stories that came before.

I was happily surprised by the easy and conversational tone of the translators. Although these stories feature a lot of repetition - both as a narrative device within each story, and in shared themes when taking the collection as a whole - these are easy to digest and quite fun. There is some truly bizarre imagery - three princess buried up to their necks, a raft made of lions, trolls with any number of improbable heads, etc, etc. Kay Nielsen's beautiful illustrations are endlessly enchanting. The full-colour plates really make this a treasure.
