Men of the Otherworld, Paperback Book
4 out of 5 (1 rating)

I don't remember the first time I changed into a wolf. One night I passed out, and awoke to find my body covered in yellow fur. My brain was beyond reacting. It took this in its stride, as it had everything else in my new life. I got to my feet and went in search of food.As a curious and independent six-year-old, Clayton didn't resist the bite - he asked for it.

But as a lone child werewolf his life is under constant threat.

So when enigmatic Pack member Jeremy Danvers saves him, Clayton is determined to protect his adoptive father, no matter what the cost.

So begins this gripping collection of four tales chronicling the bloody feuds of the American Pack, and the coming of age of Clay Danvers, a very powerful - and very singular - werewolf.

If you must publish short stories then this (except the very last one) is a wonderful way to do it.It's a bit stop-start of course, because there are introductions and conclusions in places that a full-length story wouldn't need them, but this is a series of vignettes of Clayton being found as a feral child and growing up until Jeremy becomes Alpha. They are topped and tailed with a story about Jeremy without Clayton - but the core is solid Clayton.Sometimes authors who have a strong voice of one sex, (as Ms. Armstrong does for various women) struggle to write in the opposite sex, and that is not the case. Clayton is "damaged" especially at the beginning which makes it all the more interesting too.I usually avoid short stories, but loved this set.
