Description

Colby Dancer, notorious hired gun, is a loner who strikes terror in the hearts of rustlers down in Slye, New Mexico Territory. When his sister is killed in a bank robbery, Colby hunts the Keo gang with deadly purpose, but the leaders manage to escape.

Years later, while working for the cattlemen in Powder River country, Colby learns one of the Keo gang was recently killed in another robbery. Clues take him north to Dead Man's Creek, an outlaw hangout in western Montana Territory near Lou Ramsey's Rockin' R Ranch, where some of the gang is rumored to be working.

When he arrives, he discovers Lou Ramsey is missing, and the ranch is being run by the gorgeous Melina Ramsey, who has a young son, and is desperate to hide her husband's whereabouts. Every wanted man in the territory rests up in the south side of town, an outlaw den run by a man who calls himself Purvis, a man who covets Melina and her ranch.

As a known bounty hunter, Colby is a target everywhere he turns. He stumbles onto more Keos than he's likely to handle. He connects with the black smithy, Jackson, who willingly joins in the fight.

When Purvis learns Lou Ramsey has been dead all along, he devises a plan to ride on the ranch with a band of killers to get his hands on Melina. When the outlaws succeed in carrying off Melina, a wounded Colby finds himself facing the fight of his life.
