Camden Town in 50 Buildings, Paperback Book

Camden Town in 50 Buildings Paperback

Part of the In 50 Buildings series

Paperback

Description

Camden Town is the fourth largest visitor attraction in London by virtue of its market, the highly successful music scene, its shops and restaurants, nearby Regent's Park and the industrial heritage surrounding Regent's Canal.

It is estimated that over 100,00 people each weekend visit Camden Town.

This book aims to tell the history of Camden Town, from its growth in the early nineteenth century spurred by the arrival of the Grand Union Canal and the railways through to its current position as a major tourist destination as well as focus for creative industries in London.

Famous residents of Camden Town have included Charles Dickens, George Orwell and more recently Amy Winehouse - these and more will be reflected in the book. From Mornington Crescent in the south, through to Chalk Farm in the north, and from Regent's Park in the East to Camden Square (now famous as the last residence of Amy Winehouse) in the West, this unique study celebrates Camden's architectural heritage in a new and accessible way.

Local photographer, Louis Berk and tour guide Rachel Kolsky explore the history of this rich and vibrant London district through a selection of its greatest architectural treasures.
