Audie Palmer escapes from prison on the last day of his 10 year sentence. He was serving time for an armed robbery during which people died. He's keeping a promise but we don't find out what it is until towards the end of the book. The big question is why would you escape when you are just about to be released?Audie is a great character. He's resisted many attempts on his life in prison and is a calm person and I was really hoping things would turn out ok for him. We follow Audie as he escapes from prison and sets out to fulfil his promise. We learn more about his life through flashbacks and as the story progresses it all unfolds quite nicely. There are some great supporting characters, in particular the FBI agent, Desiree Furness, who I liked very much. This is a fast-paced thriller and my first by this author. I would definitely read more. A very well-plotted read, with a love story at its heart.
