Description

This book is a delightful account by the author of his stay in the kingdom of Ava in Burma (now Myanmar).

Symes was appointed as the plenipotentiary by Sir John Shore, Governor-General of India, on admission to Burma authorized to deal with on behalf of the British India government.

He was also asked to take cognizance of the conduct of the British nationals trading or residing in these areas.

The author embarked from Calcutta on the 21st February 1795 to reach Ava on Nov 26th, 1796.
