Lasers in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Paperback / softback Book

Lasers in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Paperback / softback

Paperback / softback

Description

The word laser represents an elegant acronym as "Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation".

It was demonstrated for the first time in 1960 by Maiman.

Since then, lasers have been used for various purposes in medicine and surgery.

As far as dentistry is concerned, the treatment of carious lesions and their consequences was the center of dental treatment, but, now a day, periodontal diseases and their consequences are considered as the main danger for tooth and bone loss worldwide.

With the introduction of laser in this area, very interesting and elegant perspectives have emerged, which should be integrated into the routine treatment means.

The following contribution aims to show the additional advantages of laser-assisted periodontal treatment and also the limitations of periodontal laser therapy.
