The Economics of Labour-Managed Enterprises Hardback
by Norman J. (University of Warwick, Coventry, UK) Ireland, Peter J. Law
Part of the Routledge Library Editions: Employee Ownership and Economic Democracy series
Hardback
Description
Originally published in 1982. Labour-managed enterprises pose special, fascinating problems for economists. Because labour-managed firms are organised in a different way to other types of firms, conventional theories of the firm and industrial economic theories do not apply, and modified theories have to be worked out.
Economists have focused a great deal of attention on this subject, and this book provides an exposition and synthesis of academic research on the topic.
Moreover, the authors present new discussion and empirical results, and take theory a stage further while keeping mathematics to a minimum.
The discussion is not confined to the British experience, but considers labour-managed firms from a wide international perspective.
