Independent domination involves finding a dominating set of vertices such that no two vertices in the set are adjacent. Irredundant domination involves finding a dominating set of vertices such that no vertex in the set can be removed without losing domination. k-domination involves finding a dominating set of vertices such that every vertex not in the set has at least k neighbors in the set.

The study of zero divisor graph domination and its variations has applications in algebraic geometry, coding theory, and network analysis, among other fields.
